GOLEMATRIARK

Eli Berman and Stuart B Meyers' "GOLEMATRIARK" is a futuristic, mystical sound-object performance inspired by the Jewish myth of the golem. This ritual performance explores creation as a feminine, intuitive act—expansive, embodied, and rooted in care. Blurring the boundaries between body and machine, custom-built noise instruments channel the performers’ voices through plastic and metal pipes, interacting with loops of electronic distortions and beats all made from samples of the voice. Drawing on extended vocal techniques, Ashkenazic prayers, duets by The Barry Sisters, and queer Jewish witchcraft, "GOLEMATRIARK" is a meditation on how we will our world into existence through breath, sound, and voice. "GOLEMATRIARK" premiered June 5th 2025 for the Ars Nova ANT Fest.
